The Narmada cranium
The only fossil hominin skull cap reported from the Indian subcontinent. Its age and classification are still debated.
Hathnora, Narmada valley, Madhya Pradesh, India · Middle Pleistocene (age debated)
In 1982 Arun Sonakia of the Geological Survey of India recovered a partial hominin cranium from Narmada valley gravels at Hathnora. It was first attributed to Homo erectus; later studies argued for an archaic Homo sapiens or comparable Middle Pleistocene form.
Because published age estimates and classifications differ, S.C.O.B.E.A. lists this as an Unresolved Question rather than presenting any single interpretation as settled.
